Wolfeboro Historical Society Photograph Archive Business

The Wolfeboro Post Office was established in 1815, but didn't begin operations until 1820. The first location was on South Main St. in the Goodwin Block. This photo is the third location, on South Main St. in the Peavey Block, c. 1907 (moved from Railroad Ave. in 1894). The store on the right is the Frank L. Ham Clothing Store. This Post Office location is now the Avery Insurance Co. The postal workers, L-R, are Postmaster Forrest W. Peavey, Harry P. Corliss, and Assistant Postmaster Arthur H. Copps (who became Postmaster in 1909).
