The Kingswood Club House, side view, c. 1907, at the end of Endicott St. The Kingswood Club began in 1901 as a social club, mainly summer residents, formed with the intent of improving the Town of Wolfeboro. The goal was to improve tourism, as well as increasing accessibility via better roads and train schedules. In 1907 they purchased the former Varney Tannery property and had the tannery buildings torn down and a new facility erected. The building had a kitchen in the basement; dining room, reception parlor and smoking room on the first floor; and sleeping rooms on the second floor. The building was used later, in the 1910's, by the Kingswood Golf Club. In 1921, it was remodeled and became the Kingswood Casino, a public gaming center. See previous photo for later history.
