First Congregational Church (original building at Pickering Corner), after electricity. Sanford Building at left. Church was formed June 17, 1834, at a meeting in the home of David and Sarah Pickering. The group met in private homes, then the second floor of the Wolfeborough & Tuftonborough Academy. The Pickering Corner building was erected in 1846 and used until 1913, when the Church moved to its new location a short distance west on South Main Street.
