After the original elegant 3-story Goodwin Block building was destroyed by fire on May 28, 1899, a 1-story clapboard building was built on the site that same year. This photo shows the results of a fire on October 13, 1908. The building had 4 businesses, all ruined, L-R, C. H. Johnson (dry goods), Sylvester A. Edgerly (shoes), F. T. Morrill (restaurant), and Wolfeboro Drug Store. In 1909, the structure was rebuilt and opened again, with new tenants.
