Triggs Island in Lake Wentworth. Taken from Triggs Landing, on the north side of the Lake off Rte. 109, early 1900's. A noted summer resident was William O. Douglas, U. S. Supreme Court Judge. Named after Thomas Triggs, its first owner, and 10 acres in size (second largest in Lake Wentworth), it was once called Wentworth Island, and later, Ministers' Island. The latter name was used in the early 1900's after purchase by a Massachusetts Methodist Minister, Francis H. Spear, who brought a number of fellow Ministers to establish summer homes there. Some cottages are now owned by descendants of those Ministers.
