At the Governor John Wentworth Mansion location, now a State Historical Site, the original well, as restored by Stephen W. Clow, 1920. Mr. Clow was an extremely successful businessman, dealing in lumber and cattle. In 1882, he owned 1200 acres including the former Gov. Wentworth farm. In the 1930's, he donated extensive Lake Wentworth shore frontage to the State of NH, including the Mansion site and Clow's Beach at Wentworth State Park. This photo was taken Aug. 26, 1938.
