View of Lake Wentworth from the area of Samuel Morgan's homestead, near the end of Pleasant Valley Rd., c. 1900. Stamp Act Island in the center is the largest island in Lake Wentworth and was named after the British Stamp Act of 1765, imposing taxes which the Americans considered unfair. It was privately owned until 1977, when it became a wildlife preservation; the last building was removed in 1978.
