A Mill building on the Smith River at Center St., c. 1907. The original photo was colorized and made into this postcard. The mill power was provided by the water wheel in the center. Water rights to the Smith River flowing from Crescent Lake were the subject of bitter and protracted litigation during this era. Believe this building became the Mill Village Store from about 1950 to 1960, and also was the Wolfeboro Falls Post Office. Mill Village was the old name for Wolfeboro Falls. From 1960 thru 1984, the building was the Basket Barn, with the water wheel restored and rotating, but no longer used for power.
