This early photo measures only 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches. There is a crowd on the shore, watching something happening in the bay. The foreground seems to be ice. The group of connected buildings is on the location of today's Cate and Town Park. The first part of the building (on the left) is on South Main St., built in 1847 as a hotel, Horn's on the Lake. The next two sections were added in 1872, then the section by the water was built in 1892. The name changed to Belvue House, Lake Shore House, and Ann Inn. Torn down in 1940, an Esso Gas Station was built on the street.
