Built as the Glendon House in 1872, this impressive 4-story hotel with a mansard roof was in the center of downtown. Later, it was the Wolfeboro Hotel, New Wolfeboro Hotel, Hobbs-Is-Inn and Hotel Elmwood. It was razed in 1935 to build the present Wolfeboro Post Office. Photo was taken 1895-1899, when it was the Wolfeboro Hotel. On the lower left foreground is a hand pump with a watering trough for horses, and several one-horse buggies are tied to a long hitching rail. Part of the Bank Building is on the left, across Union St.
