This large building on North Main St. was built in 1812 as the Nathaniel Rogers Homestead. Many additions toward the rear have been made over the years. In 1931, it became a guest facility offering rooms and meals, called the Copper Kettle. In 1936, purchased by James W. Carr, the name was changed to Carr House. The Carr's continued the business until 1959, except for a closing in the war years, 1943-1945. They received some recognition as a upscale country inn. In 1959, the building was sold and renamed the familiar Wolfeboro Inn, as it continues today. Additions expanded the property to Lake Winnipesaukee and added lodging space, but the front dining area and fireplace remain as they were in 1812. This photo of the Carr House, from the 1950's, shows the front and north sides.
