The Pavilion Hotel at Pickering Corner was built in 1849, became the Kingswood Inn in 1890, and was sold and removed in 1899. This front photo, from across South Main St., was taken in the late 1890's, when it was the Kingswood Inn. Improvements in the front include the covered entryway. The hotel was the largest one ever built in Wolfeboro, with an advertised capacity of 300 guests. Their land extended to the lake, and had a boathouse, bowling alley and diving platform on the shore. The site is now Brewster Soccer Field.
