This is the grounds of Pierce Camp Birchmont, where a small golf course has been set up. The Camp is located atop Mt. Delight, a hill overlooking the west side of Lake Wentworth, accessed from Rte. 109 near the Brookfield Town Line. The extensive property of about 200 acres includes about 2000 feet of shorefront on Lake Wentworth. The facility opened as Camp Birchmont in 1907 as a summer camp and school for girls. From the early 1920's until 1951 (except for World War II}, it became Birchmont Camp, a summer lodging facility with cabins, and sometimes tent space, for families and adults. In 1951, now owned by Forrester W. Pierce, Sr., the named was changed to Pierce Camp Birchmont and is still operating today.
