The round object with the long handle is a bed warmer. Coals from the fire would be put in the brass pan and put under the quilts on the bed so it would be warm when you got in. The Clark House was built in the late 18th century and like most houses had no insulation so it was cold at night. You could wake up to frost inside your house.
