Monitor Engine Company and Monitor Hose Company of South Wolfeborough was the first organized fire company in town in 1862. The Company building was located near the junction of Middleton Road and South Main St. (Rt. 28) behind the corner building known as the Rust Store. Today, the location is the parking lot behind the building. L-R, sitting in the wagon, Willie Wiggin, Fred Avery, Horace B. Rust, and Frank York.
