Pequaket Hook & Ladder Company, c.1890. The ladder truck was pulled to the site by manpower, not horses. What looks like straight logs on the truck is actually folding ladders, which take up less space. An example of one of these original ladders is on display in the Firehouse building at the Clark Museum Complex on South Main St. This company had a building near the site of the Municipal Electric Plant on Factpry St. (renamed Lehner St. in 1970). The name Pequaket came from a local Indian Tribe.
