View from South Main St. towards North Main St., c. late 1890's. On the left is the Peavey Block, now Avery Block, and the elegant Goodwin Block, which burned down in 1899 and was replaced by a simple one-story building. In the center, on the left side of the street, is the turret of the Piper residence, which was moved back to the lake shore in 1956. The site is now the Yum Yum Bakery.
