An artist's sketch of the Glendon House was made into an engraving for advertising. It was used in The Switzerland of America tourist guide in 1879. The park-like setting was rather fanciful, as other commercial buildings were actually in the foreground. Built as the Glendon House in 1872, this impressive 4-story hotel with a mansard roof was in the center of downtown. Later, it was the Wolfeboro Hotel, New Wolfeboro Hotel, Hobbs-Is-Inn and Hotel Elmwood. It was razed in 1935 to build the present Wolfeboro Post Office.
