Built as the Glendon House in 1872, this impressive 4-story hotel with a mansard roof was in the center of downtown. Later, it was the Wolfeboro Hotel, New Wolfeboro Hotel, Hobbs-Is-Inn and Hotel Elmwood. It was razed in 1935 to build the present Wolfeboro Post Office. Photo was taken Feb. 7, 1916, when it was the Hotel Elmwood. The building on the left is best known as the Bank Building, now a realty. Henry Cotton, a successful businessman dealing in lodging and cattle, had bought the building in 1905, and later was a director of the Wolfeboro National Bank.
