The Brightwaters Inn is at the end of Lake Street, a short street off North Main St. just past the downtown bridge. This building was reported as an old farmhouse which was moved across the ice to the present location. First known as Bishop's, with food and lodging in 1940, it became Shaws-on-the-Lake in 1943, then the Brightwaters Inn in 1946. Later named the Pirate's Den in 1962, the Copple Crown Mountain Yacht Club in 1969 (until that residence and resort enterprise went bankrupt), and in 1977, the facility became the members-only Windrifter Yacht Club, part of the Windrifter Resort on South Main St.
