The Sheridan House on North Main St. was built in 1795 and razed in 1941 to build a gas station. Today, the site is the Wolfeboro Marketplace, adjacent to the Durgin Building. This hotel had many structural and name changes over the years. The name Lake Hotel (sometimes noted as Lake House) was used from 1850-1891. The ell on the left provided storage on the first floor and a hall on the second floor was used for dances, concerts, vaudeville shows, political rallies and meetings. The hotel was opened year-round. This photo was taken in the 1870's.
