The Pavilion Hotel at Pickering Corner was built in 1849, became the Kingswood Inn in 1890, and was sold and removed in 1899. This photo was taken in the 1880's. This view is the back, with the lake off to the left. The original First Congregational Church is on the right. The hotel was the largest one ever built in Wolfeboro, with an advertised capacity of 300 guests. Their land extended to the lake, and had a boathouse, bowling alley and diving platform on the shore. The site is now Brewster Soccer Field.
