View from Hobbs-Is-Inn looking northwest. Left center is the Wool Corner building. Across Main St. is the Goodwin Block, replacing the larger building which burned in 1899, then the Carroll Piper house (circular turret) on North Main St., moved toward the lake in 1956 to make room for Leighton's Gulf Station, now the location of the Yum Yum Bakery. The smoke stack near the end of Wolfeboro Bay is from a tannery factory which was at the end of Endicott St. At center is the Durgin Block (cupola on top); to the right is the Durgin Barn & Stables, now the site of Country Bookseller & other stores. C. 1900.
