View from Town Hall roof looking down Union St. to the original Shoe Factory on Factory St. (now Lehner St.). The building was erected in 1884 and burned in 1887, along with eight residences. The large factory was 200 feet long, 36 feet wide with two 36' x 75' ells. A duplicate building was erected on the site the next year. The junction in the center is Union St. and School St. C. 1885. Behind the factory is the open water, previously known as Back Bay, filled in starting in 1966, and now is Foss Field.
