Wolfeboro Historical Society Photograph Archive Houses South Main St Houses

The John L. Peavey Mansion at the corner of South Main St. & Union St. was a Wolfeboro landmark. In 1934, owner Charles F. Pinkham installed gas pumps in front of the house. In 1938, he sold out to Texaco. This 1938 photo shows the teardown in progress. Following decades as a gas station, the station was replaced in 2018 by Citizen's Bank.
