Pewter Christmas ornament, made by Hampshire Pewter, a long-time presence on Bay Street. Each year, they made an ornament for the White House Christmas tree. This is Capt. John Stark, believed made in 1989. John Stark (8/28/1728 - 5/08/1822), a NH native, was an officer in the British Army during the French and Indian war, then became a Major General in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. He was widely known as "The Hero of Bennington" for his outstanding service at the Battle of Bennington, Vermont, in 1777.
